Privacy Policy
This website is a static information site about the EU-funded Rock Your Research project. It has no user accounts, no forms and no comment function. This page explains which data is processed when you visit it, and why.
Controller
The controller within the meaning of the GDPR is ACEEU GmbH, Wilhelm-Schickard-Str. 14, 48149 Münster, Germany, which runs this website for the Rock Your Research consortium. The other project partners are not joint controllers for this website. Contact: rockyourresearch@aceeu.org. Full details are in the Imprint.
Hosting and server logs
The website is hosted on a server rented by ACEEU GmbH from Hetzner Online GmbH, Gunzenhausen, Germany, and administered by ACEEU GmbH. When you open a page, the web server automatically records the request in a log file: the requested address, date and time, the amount of data transferred, the referring page, your browser and operating system, and your IP address. These logs are needed to deliver the pages, to keep the server secure and to detect misuse (legal basis: Art. 6 (1) f GDPR, our legitimate interest in a reliable and secure website). Log files are deleted after no more than 30 days and are not combined with other data.
Cookies and local storage
The website itself sets no cookies. It stores one value in your browser's local storage, ryr-consent, which only records whether you accepted or declined analytics and when. That value never leaves your browser and you can delete it at any time in your browser settings. Analytics cookies are only set after you accept, as described below.
Web analytics (Google Analytics)
If, and only if, you accept in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, to understand how the website is used: which pages are read, from which countries and with which devices. Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga, _ga_*) and processes usage data together with a coarse location derived from your IP address; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store the IP address itself. Google may transfer this data to servers in the United States; Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We have no user accounts and do not combine analytics data with any other data about you.
Legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) a GDPR, § 25 (1) TDDDG). You can withdraw it at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer; the analytics script is then disabled and its cookies are removed. Information on Google's data processing: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Fonts and embedded content
All fonts are served from this website; no request is sent to Google Fonts or any other font service. The website embeds no maps or social media widgets. Some reports contain videos hosted on YouTube: they are shown as a placeholder with a play button, and only when you press it does your browser load the player from youtube-nocookie.com (Google Ireland Limited), which then applies Google's privacy policy. Links to LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube open those platforms, which apply their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to information about the personal data we hold about you, to rectification, erasure and restriction of processing, to data portability, and to object to processing based on our legitimate interests. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; the authority responsible for us is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen. To exercise your rights, write to rockyourresearch@aceeu.org.
Changes
We update this page when the website changes. Last updated: October 2026.
